Canada´s Standard of Living
Canada´s standard of living causes the country to be a preferred destination for significant numbers of immigrants from around the globe. These immigrants find a welcoming home in Canada. Here they are encouraged to preserve their culture and language, in a society which emphasizes equal opportunities and racial harmony.

In the 2005 edition of the annual Human Development Report, the UN ranked the quality of life in Canada as being among the top 5 countries in the world, on the basis of factors including:
  • Life expectancy at birth
  • Adult literacy rate
  • Enrolment in schools
  • Per capita Gross Domestic Product
Beyond the scope of the UN rankings, Canada offers residents the following:
  • Low crime rates
  • Low unemployment
  • Low cost of living
  • Universal healthcare, at low monthly premiums
  • A well-respected education system, in which publicly funded education is free to the end of high school
  • A beautiful environment, with extensive forests, spectacular coastlines and a number of scenic lakes
Qualifying immigration candidates and their families obtain permanent residence, and the government provides valuable assistance to immigrants once they arrive in the country.
